A Warm Welcome to Join Us

In 2007, two friends from Vancouver spent some time in India and volunteered with an organization doing amazing work with the most marginalized in Tamil Nadu. A group of friends here in Vancouver are looking at raising some funds to send to SCAD (Social Change and Development).  Our funds will go to support work in a gypsy village.  Gypsies have been increasingly displaced as India grows. SCAD has acquired land for a village, built a school and some small houses and has started working on small economic development initiatives.

“Friends of SCAD” is a grass roots initiative among friends in which we hope to raise funds through activities or services that provide things people need.   We are open to new ideas and involvement at any time.  To date $4,000 has been raised and sent to SCAD.
